Types of Visas for Medical Tourism

For short-term medical treatments, if a general tourist visa is easily obtainable, you can use it to visit medical facilities in Korea. However, if you need medical treatment for up to 90 days or up to one year, you must prepare a specific medical tourism visa.

※ Note: From April 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, citizens of certain countries and regions are exempt from the K-ETA application.
Exempt countries and regions include: Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Taiwan, Denmark, Germany, Macau, the United States (including Guam), Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, Japan, Canada, Poland, France, Finland, Australia, and Hong Kong.

Short-Term Medical Tourism Visa (C-3-3)

Purpose: For foreign patients visiting Korea for medical treatment or recuperation, and family members needing to accompany them.

Duration of Stay: Up to 90 days

Long-Term Medical Treatment Visa (G-1-10)

Purpose: For foreign patients visiting Korea for medical treatment or recuperation without an invitation from a medical tourism facilitator, and family members needing to accompany them.

Duration of Stay: Up to 1 year

Important Notes for Visa Applications

The required documents and procedures for visa applications can vary depending on the country. It is important for applicants to check the latest information by contacting the Korean embassy or consulate before their visit.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your departure date. Additionally, visa requirements vary depending on your passport nationality.

1. If a visa is required, you must apply for the appropriate visa based on the purpose of your visit.
2. Visa-exempt travelers must apply for and obtain approval for K-ETA at least 72 hours before departure.
